‘SCCAN General Assembly 2020’ Event Report

“Thank you for this VERY helpful meeting.  So inspiring and I’m buzzing with many ideas.  On we go.”

Here is the report from an afternoon spent with 44 climate activists on 13th September 2020. The event was our launch of ECOLISE’s ‘Communities for Future’ Programme. The General Assembly was also an opportunity for community activists to steer our support and decide SCCAN’s priority for activities. During the event, we explored the themes of Storytelling, Podcasts, Regional Gatherings, Local Zero Carbon Plans, Governance skills and Fundraising.

We heard Davie Philip’s Presentation on grassroots empowerment in tackling the Climate and Ecological Emergency.  Davie is a Scottish activist who’s been advocating for a sustainable community in Ireland for over 20 years.  He facilitates groups working on collaborative approaches to help localities flourish – through Cultivate, the trading name of the Sustainable Ireland Cooperative Society he co-founded in 2000.

“Thank you so much all at SCCAN and Davie for great info day of sharing. Very inspirational and encouraging.”
