Setting up NESCAN – North East Scotland Climate Action Network

On 9th September 2020, Aberdeen Climate Action organised, with the help of the Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN) and Deeside Climate Action Network, a meeting to create a Climate Action Network for the North East of Scotland. The event welcomed local organisations and individuals involved in climate action/ sustainability related projects, interested in creating a regional network.

The event started with a presentation from Fife Communities Climate Action Network (FifeCCAN) and the the group went on to discuss the aims, scope, area, membership and remit of the network. Participants were split into 4 facilitated groups to discuss what the network would look like and how it would function, based on their experience and needs. We are proud to have welcomed such amazing people, their voices and their ideas and to have facilitated a virtual space for these conversations to be held. The results of our group discussions can be consulted and we are currently planning the next North East Scotland Action Community Network meeting to take place later in the year.

Thank you all for your valuable insights. We hope that this network will grow and help its  members to collaborate towards a common goal for the benefits of North East Scotland communities, promoting the exchange of experience, ideas and plans towards Climate Action for the years to come.
